Did you know arthritis is the most common cause of disability, with 51.8 million– about half of the U.S. adults aged 65 and older–suffering from the disease?

Arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions are disorders of the joints, bones and muscles. Common features of these conditions are pain, joint stiffness and limitation in movement that cause impaired body functions. The symptoms vary from person to person based on the severity of the condition.

According to the United States Bone and Joint Initiative (USBJI), the prevalence of arthritis is set to affect 67 million people that make around 25% of the adult population by 2030.

Osteoporosis affects 10 million Americans, with 19 million more (mostly women) at risk for the disease. One in two women and one in four men over the age of 50 will have an osteoporosis-related fracture. 20 percent of hip fracture patients over age 50 will die within one year of their injury.

What Do We Treat?

Arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions are primarily long-term conditions having similar risk factors to other non-communicable diseases, such as inadequate physical activity, obesity, smoking and poor nutrition.

We, at EPIC, aim to provide you the best-in-class healthcare services, so you can manage your pain and minimize the many effects pain can have on your life. It’s important to get rid of the factors having links in the pain chain, from the disease itself to your sleep, diet and stress levels. You may need to try several different treatments as you develop your personalized pain management plan.

While the management of some musculoskeletal conditions may require specialist and/or surgical care, many such conditions can be effectively managed at our primary care through a combination of core non-pharmacologic interventions: such as exercise, weight management and psychological therapies and pharmacologic therapies.

The treatment process of arthritis pain management may include some or all of the following treatment options:

Natural Therapies: From dietary supplements to exercise therapy, we provide complementary and alternative pain relief options that can ease your pain conditions.

Physical Therapies and Assistive Devices: Physical therapy, occupational therapy, braces and self-help devices can help protect your joints and ease pain.

Lifestyle Modifications: We help you incorporate subtle changes in your style. For example: reaching and maintaining a healthy weight, moving your body regularly, and eating nutritious, anti-inflammatory foods.

Medications: To successfully manage your pain, you will need to treat your arthritis or related pain conditions with the right prescription drugs that is personalized to each person and complements without working against other prescribed medications.
